Ždírec nad Doubravou

Zdirec is located on the foothill of Iron Mountains (Zelezne hory) and Zdar Peaks (Zdarske vrchy). Zdirec used to belong to the Přibyslav or Přibyslav- Volensko lordship. Already since 1399 the knight Epik from Krucemburk owned this village, lately Mikulas Střelec from Rokyce. Than a changing of Krucenburk’s possessors came on till 1677 when the Krucenmurk estate had been sold to Polensko’s suzerain. At the end of the Second World War the biggest tragedy of Zdirec happened in its history. In the 9 December, when the German unconditional capitulations had been already signed and the war officially ended, the Red army made a large air-raid over Zdirec. The consequences were shocking. The broken landscape with many historical and natural points of interest, fresh environment of this north west part of Ceskomoravska Vrchovina make excellent conditions for pleasant and active vacation and leisure time.
